Again, there were too many people in the park to bein our new regular spot.  Luckily, we found an approach to one of the staircases blocked off for workers who were not using it.  This gave us a nice little area for juggling.   A group of Japanese tourists came by, two of which juggled with us, we met a photographer named Michael who took a ton of pictures, and a mysterious woman in a cute faux-beret. She wouldn't juggle because she was trying to maintain professional decorum, or something.  I took a picture.

Funny thing was, as she was maintaining professional decorum, she told us that was the one reason she wasn't juggling with us, as if association with a bunch of jugglers in the park would have some sort of effect on her perceived businessworthiness.  When she finally came over to explain this to us, her business contact showed up at the same moment, and stood behind her.  This spoiled her plan not to be associated with us, and they both scurried off quickly.

Participants.
Alex, Seth, Krista, Kelly, Japanese Tourists, Michael, and Beret Lady.

We got snookered by early lunchers in the Park!  I arrived to find our beloved bricks under the gaze of our fine William Cullen Bryant already occupied by about five or six people at the tables.  Seth and I found a side path to use that didn't get in the way too much.  Krista joined us for a while, along with a nanny named Donna.

Another beautiful day for juggling in the park.  Seth, Alex, and Krista juggled in front of the statue, while Delle-Ann ate her lunch and talked on the phone in the background.  It was good to have her back, if only for the day

Unseasonably warm for October 26th.  The limited space at Bryant Park was packed with people, yet we retained our space in front of Mr. Bryant.   Seth and I started it off, followed by Krista in rare form, making great strides with her three-ball pattern.  She also learned to steal successfully.  Matthew stopped by for a little while, as well as Meyer, who came by to borrow Seth's juggling knives, and passed clubs with Seth.

Bryant Park juggling had a satellite meeting on Sunday at Penda's second birthday party.  Gregg, Alex's old friend and juggling partner, was in attendance.  We have now obtained secret photos of the Westchester event.
Feast your eyes.

Short day, still in front of the statue. We finally got a report on one of our old regulars, one of the first handful of jugglers in the early summer. Turns out he lost his job and and got hit by a car in swift succession after we last saw him more than a month ago. Moral of the story: Juggle for a living, and you can't lose your job. Oh, and don't ride a bike in New York City. Just kidding. Heal up quick , Buddy, we need you out in the park.

Today we had Myself, Seth, David, Jonathan, Meyer, and Sarah. Six folks for a quick lunchtime juggle. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

October 22nd, 2010

Another great day, a little chilly, but nothing a little juggling couldn't overcome.  We had Jeff, up from Baton Rouge, accompanying a freshman relation to a city college.  He fell right in with the group, passed with Seth and me for most of the time we were there.  Jeff and family had taken the opportunity to make an NYC trip out of the student dropoff.

Colin, Robin, Krista, David, and Jonathan were all there as well.  Dante stopped by for three quick minutes to show us his skills.  It seems that we may get a little uptick in regular attendance.  I had forgotten how popular the park is in the runup to the holidays.   Talk about diversity in juggling props as well today!  We had two contact jugglers, club passing, ball juggling, and a diablo all going at once today.  A strong end to the week.   Nine jugglers, thirteen people including non-juggling hangers-on.

The New York Post will be featuring the Bryant park Juggling club in Monday's edition.  Check it out.
(Update 10/23/10) , source at the Post tells me the story has been pushed off for a week, so November 1 should be the date.)

Have a good weekend!

October 21st, 2010

Picture from earlier in the summer on the lawn.
A beautiful Fall day for juggling in the park.  Seth , myself, Jonathan, and Becca were there.  We met on the raised brick area by the statue of Bryant by the library.  Becca brought her tennis ball poi from Thailand, and Jonathan had his chrome contact juggling ball.  Seth and I passed clubs most of the time, and I began teaching Becca ball juggling before I had to go back to work.

We have been juggling in the park now since early May, had a great summer, and we are looking forward to an active fall season of Bryant Park juggling!
