Week of August 20th, 2012

We had a fantastic week of juggling this week, lunchtimes, Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon.

Joe was around a lot.  He heads back to school next week.

Tuesday Evening was great.  Caitlin had her last day with us, her internship being over for the summer.  She will be missed, but says she will be back to visit.

After the shooting at the Empire State Building on Friday they shut down 5th Avenue from 42nd street down, just north of where I cross.  I got a couple of pictures.

Sunette was back for a day, always nice to see her.

A Senegalese woman showed up with her 3 year old friend charge, nice for Alex to speak Wolof with someone.

One of the highlights of Friday was Crystal, who showed up, did the slow walk by, and was invited in.  She had taught herself to juggle backwards...with ping pong balls.  We taught her the standard cascade, she also promises to come back.

These last four pictures are from a photographer named David, who sent them to us in the last few days.  They are from Friday of last week.

We had a busy August 21st juggle.  Quite a few regulars made the effort to be there.  Caitlin, Viveca, Annie, Owen, Jesse, Jelani, Layla, Alex and Jordan.

It was Caitlin's final day with us, her Internship is over.  She said the park juggling was the highlight of her summer, and plans to return and visit from time to time.  She will be missed.

The days are getting shorter now, and us jugglers.see it around 7pm, the light begins to fail.  Lucky for us, the park has great nighttime lighting, so we could just keep going if we like.

Hello!  A little bit of a gap here, folks, sorry about that.  Take a look at what we've been up to...

First pictures are of the following Friday the 20th of July.  We were rained out, we will never make that mistake again.  It never really rains in those cases.   That Friday we got a few drops starting around 2:15.    Joe showed up, it was just the three of us, down 147 from the previous week.

Alex went to the beer tasting at the Green Growler in Croton on Hudson in his capacity as fire juggler in residence.  The folks at the growler are always appreciative...and pay in beer.

BIG Tuesday Juggle, this was the week just after the IJA festival in Raleigh-Durham.  We had a few people on their way home from the fest.

Wednesday Juggle with Jeff and another Juggler who showed up just the one day, Oliver, maybe?

Sunset over the Hudson.  Taken straight from the train.  Such an amazing commute!

Tuesday the 31st during the noontime juggle.

Then the evening of the same day, Tuesday Juggle.

THIS was a fun day, we had a photo project group from the International Center for Photography taking pictures.  We also had what Jordan calls the 'next-wave' of poi spinners.  These are students at Vassar who are office holders in the Barefoot Monkeys, the campus juggling/manipulation group.

A video of partner-poi, something I didn't even know existed until then...

Olga brought her sister, who didn't really want to juggle, we made her do it anyway...

She was a pretty good sport about it.
